About SerahRose

Path

Described in my childhood as “independent,” I grew into an over-achieving high schooler and then relaxed into a productive adult bent on innovative leadership.

Passion

Convinced that theatre belongs in education, I consult and present on the inclusion of Theatre in early childhood classrooms with an emphasis not just on practical tools for educators, but tools of artistic empowerment for educators who only need take the risk to discover the benefits of theatre with young children.

Romantic at a young age, I latched on to Shakespeare early as a form of poetry that I could finally understand, express, and play with.  To that end, I continue to perform his works on stage and take particular delight in directing high schoolers in Shakespeare productions.

The intersection of Artistic Creation and Inspired Leadership.  The leadership of a theatre organization requires a truly unique combination of skills.  Not only are leaders expected to bring their theatres into a field of success through traditional non-profit practices, but they are also expected to create great art.  Rarely are they trained to do both.  I want to give Theatre Leaders the resources to succeed in both areas at an earlier phase of their careers.  I am training myself to do so.

Vision

GAN-e-meed Theatre Project is a mission-drive non-profit company that advances the role of women in theatre.  As founder and Producing Artistic Director, I lead with passionate vision, realistic objectives, and innovative strategies.

Life Quirks

I am a successful co-parenting single mom.  I cook with maple syrup instead of vanilla.  I own a cat and a bunny.  I love domestic arts like bread baking, sewing, and sleeping.  I think we should all say hi to our neighbors.
